The Lion's Club will purchase a tonometer to be used in their free screenings throughout the New Hanover area. A tonometer measures the internal pressure of the eye and tonometry is one of the principal tests for glaucoma. This addition to their testing should help identify those in need of further serious glaucoma testing. This will increase knowledge and testing leading to treatment. Ripple effects are substantial when you consider how this purchase can impact people's lives and their family's lives.
Smart Start will use their funds for training in the Attachment and Bio-behavioral Catch-up (ABC) program. Specifically, these funds will be used to pay for accreditation of a staff member.
