Board of Directors
FUNCTION: the WIN Board of Directors (BoD) is responsible for the strategic direction of WIN, including:
- Building WIN’s membership and the resulting Grants Pool
- Setting policies, assigning priorities, and exercising leadership that will help WIN achieve its mission, goals, and objectives.
- Establishing the structures needed to fulfill WIN’s purpose and support the values of collective giving.
- Manage WIN’s finances and approve the budget.
TIME COMMITMENT: The BoD is active year round; regular board meetings are monthly and committee meetings are ad hoc. BoD members are encouraged to actively participate in WIN functions. BoD members serve a 2-year term and can be re-elected. An average time commitment is approximately 15-20 hours/month.
COMMENT: The WIN Board is comprised of women who are motivated to guide WIN to new levels of excellence in delivering our mission to "make a significant impact in New Hanover County." Board members bring a strategic mindset, a get it done approach, and strong interpersonal skills, combined with a collaborative, inclusive style. A genuine curiosity about the issues facing our community and an open mind about innovative and effective forms of philanthropy are assets to the Board.
