When you join WIN, you are making a significant impact in our community through the power of collective giving. We pool our members' dues each year to give grants in rotating Areas of Giving: Arts and Culture, Education, Health and Wellness, and the Environment.
Who belongs to WIN? We are an inclusive and diverse group of women which is united over improving our community. We enjoy and learn from each other. We come together to support great ideas. And we come out of each grant cycle having made a difference in New Hanover County.
Each member gets one vote for the most deserving projects. A Grants Committee curates and guides the process each January-March, and awards are given in May. In the summer to fall months, a new awards cycle in our rotating Giving Areas is kicked off with the help of the research done by the relevant Giving Circle.
Throughout the rest of the year, WIN offers many opportunities for learning about and discussing philanthropy (our Book Club), for learning about the needs of the community (our Giving Circles), and for networking and social events (for example, our Annual General Meeting, our Awards luncheon, and our “serious but social” smaller gatherings).
You can choose to be active on WIN grants, philanthropy, engagement, or membership committees, you can join a Giving Circle, or you can simply attend meetings. Your level of involvement is up to you. Whatever you choose, you will be working with women who are as committed as you are to making an impact in our community, and to learning from and enjoying each other.
We would love to have you join us. If you have questions to ask, please send a member information request to our Membership Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by filling out the form below. We will be back in touch with you soon.
